Karen has also made documentaries for BBC Radio 4. She won the Travel Broadcast Journalist of the Year award in 2012, and 2010, and was runner-up in 2011. She was named the Regional Feature Writer of the Year, for 2012.

She moved to Hong Kong, where she worked as a reporter for CNBC Asia and then as the Asia Bureau Chief for the Fox News channel. She returned to the UK where she worked for seven years on ITV’s flagship current affairs programme, Tonight.
